About the LAUM
Welcome to the Laboratoire d'Acoustique de l'Université du Mans (LAUM) website!
The Lab
The LAUM is a joint research unit of the Le Mans Université and the CNRS (UMR 6613). The laboratory has a staff of around 160: teacher-researchers, researchers, engineers/technicians, PhD students, post-docs and associate researchers.
The LAUM's activities are mainly focused on “audible” acoustics, but over the past few years the laboratory has integrated new research themes in the field of vibration and ultrasound.
Studies focus on wave propagation in fluids (whitout or with flow) and solids (porous, granular or composite materials, vibrating structures), as well as on coupling mechanisms. The main aim is to understand the physical phenomena involved, with the emphasis on developing analytical models and experimental studies, combined with the necessary numerical simulations.
Research is carried out by three teams specializing in complementary topics:
Organization
The LAUM is managed by the director and his associate director, elected for a 6-year term.

Director: Olivier DAZEL Associate Director: Simon FELIX |
LAUM management is assisted by :
- The LAUM Management Board, comprising the director, deputy directors, team managers and administrative manager.
- The LAUM Council, made up of representatives of permanent and non-permanent teacher-researchers, researchers and engineers/technicians staff.
