Abstract OR PIM :
| - The Physics of Musical Instruments group includes works on musical instrument’s acoustics and mechanics. The works are particularly dedicated to wind instruments (reed and brass instruments) and plucked string instruments.
- Current researches are in the field of measurements, physical modelling, and numerical simulations. They are applied on instrument making, instrumental gesture, and organology. An important task is science spreading toward musicians and instrument makers.
- The members of the group belong to other groups of the “Laboratoire d’Acoustique de l’Université du Maine”, and that implies a mixture of competences (waveguide acoustics in air, non-linear oscillations, vibroacoustics, electroacoustics, signal processing). There are collaborations with many labs from France and abroad, and the group welcomes students from everywhere to do projects in musical acoustics.
